                              MY TEARS HIDE

My first tear, a tsunami, is just waiting to be free

Arising in my soul, the flood I fear can never be

So, I choke back down my wall of tears

I know they can’t be free

And take them to a shameful place

I know they need to be

To my hidden place of anger that captures tears for me

Today there’s room for one more tear, each day there seems to be

My soul is full of sadness, I wish these tears were free

But they must stay inside my heart, each day protecting me

Tsunami, flood – you’re just too great to put back in your place

The hidden place you have to stay, constrained and watched and safe

If you were ever free to run along this ancient face

I’d never get you back into your secret captured place

The danger, tear, you represent simply is too great

I cannot face the prospect of releasing you to fate

And so I keep you hidden in your special quiet place

Hoping that you’ll calm yourself and help me hide my face

If others see my flood they may just turn and run away

To a place that’s happy wherein they can sing and dance and play

But, if I keep the dam in place, my flood will never be

Rejection from the world I’ll never see, they will not flee

But Jesus knows my heart, my tears, though hidden, He has seen

He understands my fears and cares, He knows the hidden me

In my desert place He comforts, quiets, holds these tears for me

In time He will release my tears, in time they will be free

In His time these tears will fin-all-y, they’ll finally be free!

This poem was written during a dark and lonely time in my life, a time when I thought no one except God cared what my family and I were going through. It took me a very long and depressing time to realize that those around me weren’t uncaring, they were just unaware. Hence, this site is born. Please don’t make the same mistake I made. Open yourself up to the possibilities around you and seek God in all things – you WILL be surprised!

Bible: 1 Peter chapter 5, verse 7  “Cast all your anxiety on Him (Jesus) because he cares for you.”

Blessings, Teresa
